Book a consultationHormonal health, reproductive choices, and the physical changes that come with each stage of life are areas where continuity with a trusted GP makes a significant difference. Dr Lingard sees women from their reproductive years through perimenopause and post-menopause, at Walton Bridge Medical Centre in The Gap, Brisbane, convenient for women in Ashgrove, Keperra, Ferny Hills, and the broader north-west Brisbane area.
Perimenopause, the transition period before menopause that can begin in the early to mid-40s and last for several years, is one of the most underdiagnosed stages in women's health. Symptoms including irregular periods, hot flushes, sleep disruption, mood changes, and cognitive changes are often attributed to stress or other causes. Accurate diagnosis and a clear management plan, which may include menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), can make a substantial difference to quality of life during this period.
Dr Lingard also performs Mirena IUD and Implanon insertion and removal in the practice, provides shared antenatal care in partnership with the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, and supports women in the postnatal period, including mental health screening for postnatal depression and anxiety.

Common questions
Do I need a referral for a women's health appointment?
No referral is needed. You can book directly through HotDoc. Women's health consultations with Dr Lingard are part of her general practice, so there is no additional specialist referral cost.
What is the difference between perimenopause and menopause?
Perimenopause is the transition period leading up to menopause, the years during which oestrogen levels begin to fluctuate and decline, typically starting in the early to mid-40s. Menopause is defined as twelve consecutive months without a menstrual period. Many symptoms commonly associated with menopause, including hot flushes, mood changes, and sleep disruption, actually begin during perimenopause.
Does Dr Lingard prescribe HRT / MHT?
Yes. Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT, also called HRT) is an evidence-based treatment for menopausal symptoms and is appropriate for many women. Dr Lingard can assess your individual situation, discuss the current evidence, and prescribe MHT where clinically appropriate. Questions about your specific suitability are best discussed at a consultation.
Can I have my Mirena or Implanon inserted at this practice?
Yes. Dr Lingard performs Mirena IUD and Implanon (etonogestrel implant) insertion and removal in the practice. A procedural appointment differs from a standard consultation. Contact Walton Bridge Medical Centre on (07) 3300 1900 or check HotDoc for available appointment types.
Does Dr Lingard offer shared antenatal care?
Yes. Dr Lingard offers shared antenatal care in partnership with the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH). This model allows most of your antenatal appointments to take place with Dr Lingard at Walton Bridge Medical Centre, with scheduled hospital visits at key points in the pregnancy.
